Rhythms of Presence

In his presentation Sambolec contemplates on how attending to the rhythms of everyday non-performative steps as they are brought to the fore in his installation Rhythms of Presence articulate human bodily presence that is manifesting outside of and beside subjectivity, sociality, identity and meaning, as series of rhythmical, sonic, and spatial situations and expressions. He further elaborates on how such experiential manifestations embody and uncover the otherness we all share as a possibility to philosophically reconfigure the relations between the self, other, and world not defined through classification, signification, and representation of the other, but acted out as relations of “being with” and “passing by” the other, recognizing itself as the other.

The presentation draws from his artistic research project Rhythms of Presence (2013 – 2017) carried out under the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme at Faculty of Fine Art, University of Bergen.
