Between 2016-2017, the City Rhythm research was carried out to explore new methods to understand the issue of social safety by using rhythm. The research carried out 9 case studies in 6 cities in the Netherlands; Amsterdam, Zaanstad, Helmond, Rotterdam, Zoetermeer and Den Haag. In each city, a social issue related with social safety was explored. In collaboration with civil servants, students from Delft, Leiden and Erasmus Universities, and researchers from AMS Institute, rhythm analyses and intervention proposals were carried out. From the social perspective, the results showed that the formulation of the rhythm perspective of a social issue is possible and it creates different solution spaces; while from the data perspective, representing rhythms through a comparative visualization of data in relation to perceived safety appeared to create a way of collaboration around social issues between civil servants.
