Performance

In social interaction people perform presence in relation to one another. When meeting a grim face or a happy face, the other will perform her or his presence presence accordingly. The performance of presence is a complex process that is affected by different levels of consciousness (Damasio: proto-, core- and exteneded consciousness) and different kinds of knowledge (Gill: explicit, implicit and tacit knowledge).
