City Rhythm Research Updates 5th of April, by Caroline Nevejan and Scott Cunningham

City of Amsterdam uses Google data and Tomtom data in order to understand “how the city thinks”. Through accessing data gathered from phones or from Tomtom usage, a reflection is being made on how the people move in the city, and on what notions the movements depend on. Ron van der Lans, gives us an overview of the process behind receiving the data, making a good use of it, and the rules to be respected.

As we arrive to the 2/3 of City Rhythm research, we are at the moment working on the preparation of City Rhythm prototype, and acquiring the data from CBS on TU Delft server. Along with this, our explorations continue from rhythm and data perspective, through workshop and brainstorm sessions.

It is now certain that YUTPA will be the framework that will be used for the identification of datasets, and bridges have been built between YUTPA framework’s factors and CBS datasets. The model which is being used is an entity-relationship model.

In this clip, Caroline Nevejan gives a summary on research updates, and the process behind the acquisition of CBS data and Scott Cunningham introduces his role as the key person for using their datasets.

And finally, the NWO funding that we would like to apply for the continuation of the research is being presented.
